Holy. Shit. Just when I thought rock and roll was a dead language, along comes Geordie Greep with some of the most vital, weird, ambitious, and downright exciting music I’ve ever heard in my life. “Blues” feels like something from a modern-day (and righteously furious) King Crimson.
Its central hook is a seriously technical tongue-twister for the guitar that stutters and hiccups like a giant engine mid-catastrophic-breakdown that you just can’t look away from. And lyrically, it’s no less morbidly fascinating, verbally eviscerating its narcissistic, unnamed subject - first metaphorically, then literally, with one of the most terrifying invocations of inevitable death I’ve ever heard.
